Tender and Contract Websites
There are a range of regional and national websites which provide details of public sector contracting opportunities. Some are tailored for specific industries or sub-sectors, such as health, whilst others are focussed on specific types of deliverer, such as small and medium sized enterprises. Some services also charge a subscription fee. Details on some of the key 'portals' are outlined below.
The North Eastern Purchasing Organisation (NEPO)
The North Eastern Purchasing Organisation (NEPO) is a purchasing and contracting consortium consisting of 11 full member local authorities and 13 associate members. NEPO was established in 1976 as a means of aggregating contracts and pooling purchasing knowledge and expertise between the original five Tyne and Wear metropolitan authorities. It has since expanded its membership and services and now negotiates a huge range of contracts. Police, probation and fire services also benefit from NEPO by participating in many joint procurement arrangements. NEPO now covers an area from the Scottish border through to Tyneside, Wearside, County Durham and Teesside.
VCS organisations can register with the NEPO web portal as a source of information. Once registered, organisations will receive e-mail alerts on contract opportunities that are available from local authorities in the North East.
Supply2.gov.uk
Supply2.gov.uk consolidates access to lower-value contracting opportunities from across the UK public sector. Supply2.gov.uk offers public sector buyers the opportunity to post their lower-value contract opportunities, typically under £100,000, and access profiles of pre-qualification information created by suppliers registering on the site. As soon as you register as a supplier you will receive lower-value contract notices for your chosen location free of charge. There is a charge for information on contracts over the value of £100,000, and for opportunities outside your locality.
Funding Central
Funding Central is a free website for all third sector organisations, including community groups, providing access to thousands of funding and finance opportunities, including contracts. It also provides tools and resources supporting organisations to develop sustainable income strategies appropriate to their needs. Funding central is delivered by NCVO and funded by the Office of the Third Sector. It is similar to the Regional Third Sector Capabilities Database project which NESEP, in partnership with VONNE, is piloting. To find out more visit the Regional Projects page.
