Climate Change

Whether you agree or disagree with the exact causes of climate change it appears clears that there are notable changes in weather patterns across the globe.  It is predicted that the impact of these changes will become increasingly severe over time.  This will inevitably result in noticeable impacts on people's lives and the environment of the North East.

As our weather becomes more erratic and unpredictable we will need to adapt to these changing weather patterns and take mitigating actions to help the environment adapt and recover.  In our region it is likely that we will experience warmer, wetter winters and hotter, drier summers.  This is likely to lead to more flooding and an increased number of heat waves, which can be hazardous to a number of vulnerable people, groups and communities.

Regardless of your personal views, climate change and the actions and policy that is being developed around it, will have a major impact on the people and communities of the North East.
