North East Offenders Network

NeonNeon (the North East Offenders Network) is a network of voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations that either work or would like to work with (ex) offenders and their families. It was set up by Barefoot Research and Evaluation and VONNE in Summer 2008 for several reasons:

  • to help organisations let each other know what type of activities they are doing and improve communication between VCS agencies and the statutory sector
  • to increase awareness of offender-specific policy, commissioning opportunities, news and information
  • to increase the capacity of organisations with a seminar and events programme

The ultimate objective is to improve the services that are delivered to (ex) offenders and their families in the North East.

To join, complete the online membership form. Its free to join if you are a voluntary and community sector organisation. We will send you regular emails and newsletters and you will be able to go to the seminars and events that we put on, also for free. Or you can downlaod the form and email to vonne@vonne.org.uk

Neon directory

Neon has produced a directory for VCS organisations which work with (ex) offenders.  This is a one-stop electronic shop to find out information and contact details on local, sub-regional and regional voluntary and community sector (VCS) providers of services to offender, ex-offender, their families and communities. In 2010/11, the directory received over 4000 visits, making it the most popular of VONNE’s policy areas on the website. Any VCS organisation which currently works with, or is interested in working in the field can register an entry.

The content is available free of charge and regularly updated. We hope the directory will become the first port of call for prisons, probation and other agencies working in offending, prevention and resettlement to find out what's out there and make contact with VCS providers directly. We also hope the directory will allow VCS organisations to make new links and partnerships within the sector.
