Our Social Tech Meets bring the social sector together with the tech sector - to promote innovation, collaboration and digital transformation.
We bring together organisations with a social purpose and digital specialists to:
- Identify problems that could be solved with new technology
- Explore potential technology solutions
- Create networking opportunities for people in the social and digital sectors
- Bridge the digital divide and build new partnerships
- Share learning, resources and good practice
The venue is Sunderland Software Centre - within 5 minutes walk of Sunderland Metro and Train station.
Come along for a drink and some pizza, and have a look around the centre.
The event will run from 6 - 8.30pm and there will be plenty of time for networking.
Our speakers will include Code Operative and Community Reuse Network
John Evans from Code-Operative will be speaking about Wobbly - a workplace organising platform creating a space for energetic, powerful, and democratic unions to win struggles and grow.
Code-operative is a network of freelance software developers based in the North East. They are a non-profit service co-operative bridging the gap between freelancers and the businesses that need them.
The Community Reuse team will be sharing their story of building a tech enabled programme to reduce waste and help the most vulnerable.
The ReUse Network is made up of local voluntary groups, receiving and selling donated items to divert them from waste stations and raise funds to support people in and around the City of Sunderland.
This event is part of VONNE's programme of support to the VCSE sector for Innovation, Governance and Leadership.
