The VONNE Climate Project is one of 40 UK projects invited by the National Lottery Community Fund to bid for part of £100m to support the VCSE sector to take action on the climate emergency.
The project has been longlisted from 630 applicants and will next month submit its bid to be among the final 15 to be funded in the first phase of awards. If successful, £2.5m will be used across the region over a five-year period to achieve sustainable climate impact.
In the meantime, this event will offer an ecological breakdown and an overview of the project's work so far.
The meeting will be chaired by Sir Paul Ennals, Chair of VONNE and its Climate Project, who will report on the creation of the North East Climate Coalition. Speakers will also include:
- Anna-Lisa Mills, of True North Sustainability and Smart Carbon, who will provide an overview of the climate crisis
- Peter Stark, VONNE’s Interim Climate Lead, who will chart progress from analysis to action and outline the bid to the Climate Action Fund
- Carol Botten, VONNE CEO will report on the project's next steps
Plenty of time will be given for questions, answers and discussion.
