Digital media, creativity and building relationships

In this seminar, Jan Debognies from Digital Voice will present case studies of the projects Digital Voice has delivered over the past 10 years. We will talk about how creative, digital media inclusion work such as digital storytelling not only helps participants to develop skills, confidence and self-esteem, but also empowers them to change their lives, build relationships, find community and have a voice.

We will talk for example about how we have used creative digital media projects to bring people together to discover their shared heritage and dig deep into what shapes local lives and communities. We will show how mixed age groups worked together to make interactive stories combining digital maps, pictures, videos and narrative to talk about their local area - the past, present and future and how they shared their work via exhibitions, community screenings and online.

We will invite participants to think about how they might apply similar methods to project with the people they work with and the potential partnerships they might form to do so.

The event is open to organisations based in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. If you want to attend the workshop but your organisation is out of the North of Tyne area, email georgia.goncalves@vonne.org.uk.
