NECA Skills Strategy Consultation
Date: 9th September
Time: 1pm – 2pm
Location: Online via Teams
Following the Mayoral election and the creation of the North East Combined Authority in May 2024, we are embarking upon the development of the plans that will guide our work over the coming years.
Our purpose is to champion the full potential of our region. In collaboration we’ll create a better way of life by connecting communities, giving people the skills to succeed, and improving wellbeing for all, so that the North East is recognised as an outstanding place to live, work, visit and invest.
A regional Skills Strategy will provide us with the opportunity to build on the excellent foundations we already have in place, to identify where we need a sharper focus, and to set out how we will use our investment to achieve maximum outcomes.
We want the development of the North East Skills Strategy to be a collaborative endeavour and the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector is an important partner in this, ensuring that organisational expertise and community voices are a valued part of the conversation. As such we are pleased to invite you to an initial stakeholder consultation discussion, hosted by VONNE, that will start to shape the strategy. Your expertise and insights are invaluable to shaping a skills strategy that meets the current, emerging and future skills needs of our region.
As a key stakeholder, your input will help us identify current challenges, opportunities and priorities to ensure our region can thrive with a skilled and adaptable workforce. This consultation will cover a range of important topics, including:
- Addressing skills gaps and future workforce needs
- Enhancing collaboration between education providers and employers
- Supporting lifelong learning and upskilling
- Promoting inclusive growth and opportunities for all residents
