North East Civil Society Policy Leads: Local Elections

Events Icon
The May local elections will influence the context in which civil society operates across the North East, including funding and commissioning, partnerships and local priorities. This session is part of our developing series of meetings for civil society policy leads working across the North East, creating space for shared insight, discussion, and collaboration.

Following our previous discussion on the implications of the Autumn Budget for our region, this session will focus on the outcomes of the May local elections and what they mean for people, communities, and civil society in the North East.

Local elections will take place on Thursday 7 May, with voting across a number of North East local authorities, including Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Hartlepool. As the region responds to the results, this is an opportunity to come together and reflect on emerging implications for policy and local priorities.

We’ll explore:

  • Key takeaways from the election results
  • Early signals and emerging priorities from local authorities
  • Where these priorities align (or diverge) with those of civil society

There will be plenty of time for open discussion, including reflection on post-election opportunities and challenges, as well as a conversation about the future direction of this group.

Please note that this event is open to all civil society policy leads in the North East.
