Multiple Needs and Exlusion Forum

Wednesday 15th February, Newcastle

Clinks and Youth Homeless North East have come together to coordinate the next North East Multiple Needs and Exclusion Forum. The main purpose if the group is to bring together people from the four sectors (homelessness, criminal justice, mental health and substance misuse) in order to help develop work across the north East to better serve people facing multiple needs and exclusions by:
  • Sharing experience of developing multiple needs work
  • Bringing together the voluntary sector and statutory sector to discuss issues and offer solutions
  • Highlight good practice form the North East and share more widely
  • Gather views to influence policy through the Making Every Adult Matter Coalition

The next forum will take place on Wednesday 15th February and will focus on the exciting work taking place in the North East helping young people with multiple and complex needs. The forum will provide an opportunity to share best practice, and learn from experiences and approaches from across the voluntary sector in the North East.

The forum is open to any practitioner working in the multiple and complex needs field. The NE Multiple Needs and Exclusion Forum is part of the work of the Making Every Adult Matter (MEAM) Coalition. More information about multiple needs work in the North East can be found on the VONNE website

Newcastle University research into Understanding Pathways to Stimulant Use

* * * *  PARTICIPANTS NEEDED * * * *

(ATTUNE) Understanding Pathways to Stimulant Use: a mixed-methods examination of the individual, social and cultural factors shaping illicit stimulant use across Europe
This study aims to understand more about pathways to illicit stimulant and NPS use and the impact these have on the user's day-to-day life. Researchers are interested in the factors that have shaped stimulant use (particularly ‘amphetamine type substances’ – e.g. speed, ecstasy, whizz, crystal meth, MDMA, mephedrone, misuse of Ritalin®).
  •  Are you 18 years+? Are you a current or ex user of stimulants? Have you had the chance to use stimulants and then didn’t?
  • Do you live in the North East of England?
  • Taking part would involve an informal interview that would last between 1-2 hours with a trained researcher from Newcastle University.
  • We are interested in your personal views - there are no wrong or right answers.
  • All the information collected will be anonymised and treated as confidential.
 Participants will receive a £10 high street shopping voucher for taking part. If you or anyone you work with is interested or has any questions please get in touch with Dr Michelle Addison (Michelle.Addison@ncl.ac.uk or 0191 208 3031).
