Since lockdown began, Yorkshire Energy Doctor CIC has been running free, online energy training courses for representatives of local community groups and voluntary sector organisations. Thanks to support from Northern Gas Networks, 66 people are now equipped with knowledge on all the schemes out there that can help vulnerable groups save money on their energy bills to be warm and well this winter.
The seventh training course starts on December 3rd and Yorkshire Energy Doctor CIC is looking for more organisations and individuals who would like to join it’s network.
You’ll join a fun and informal three-session training course, which will cover issues around fuel poverty, engaging households on energy, doing a home energy check, understanding energy bills, energy myth-busting and support schemes for households. You would then be offered the opportunity to work together going forward to run specific seasonal campaigns, with free resources to promote certain support schemes to your clients (although there is no obligation for you to do this).
It is going to be a difficult winter for many households, with loss of income and increased time at home contributing to rising energy use, challenges paying bills and increased risk of cold homes. Yorkshire Energy Doctor CIC hopes you can work together to reach as many households as possible.
This opportunity is open to anyone based in Yorkshire, the North East or Cumbria. You can find out more information and register on eventbrite.
