Citizens Tyne and Wear: Mayoral Assembly

Tuesday, 30 April, 2019 - 18:30 to 20:30
Tyne Theatre & Opera House Westgate Road Newcastle

If you live in Newcastle, North Tyneside or Northumberland, you will soon have an elected Mayor with new powers over our communities.

Come along to the Mayoral Assembly and make sure the voices of local citizens are heard by all the candidates.

Following on from successful campaigns to tackle hate crime, poverty and poor mental health, Tyne and Wear Citizens will be holding an assembly in Newcastle to give citizens the opportunity to put their concerns to the candidates for the new North of Tyne elected Mayor. This is an important opportunity to ensure that the new structures are accountable to civil society as well as business and we're inviting citizens from across the Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland to attend.
So far three candidates (Jamie Driscoll (Labour), John Appleby (Liberal Democrat) and John McCabe (Independent) have confirmed attendance.
We're waiting to hear back from the recently confirmed Conservative Party candidate Charlie Hoult and from Independent Amma Mirza. Some of our members have made this video, which is a great way to introduce the election to people and generate a discussion.
If you aren't already registered to vote you can get registered online here up to the 12th April.
