As part of the national Lift the Ban Month of Action, people across the region are invited to come together to take part in the Teesside Day of Action.
We will collectively write to the Home Secretary, take part in a photo action, and identify the next steps in securing the right to work for people seeking sanctuary in the UK. We will also share delicious food!
What is the Lift the Ban campaign?
Today in the UK, people who are seeking sanctuary are effectively banned from working while they wait for a decision on their claim for asylum. This means that for months, and sometimes years, people are unable to provide for themselves and their families, while their talents and skills are wasted.
That is why the coalition behind the Lift the Ban campaign – which is made up of over 190 VCS organisations, faith groups, trade unions, businesses and individuals from across the county – is campaigning for changes to the restrictions that the Government places on the right to work.
Join us in calling on the Government to Lift the Ban now!
