Northern Powergrid have recently invested in a powerful tool to enable them to map customer vulnerabilities across their operating area - Experian Social Indicator Mapping tool.
They are now inviting organisations to take part in webinars to enable VCSE organisations to explore and use the tool for their own purposes.
Northern Powergrid Experian data looks to understand the level of social deprivation across the territory we serve- Yorkshire, Humber, North Lincolnshire and the North East, to identify areas that are socially more deprived. The different aspects of vulnerability considered are: Care, Children, Communication, Education, Energy, Health, Isolation, Rural Access, Old Age and Poverty.
The data allows us to look at a location and determine what the biggest challenges there are, for example, you could ask us what the main vulnerability is in a neighbourhood, town, estate or street. We could also look at a specific vulnerability and find where that is most prevalent.
This information could be useful to you in the following ways:
- It can help you to offer targeted support to the most vulnerable people in your area
- It could help you decide what you need to prioritise in order to best support your community
- You can see if there are multiple vulnerabilities in an area
- This data can be used to evidence funding bids
The dates for the webinars are:
Tuesday 4th December 11am-12
Wednesday 12th December 11am-12
Wednesday 30th January 11am-12
Thursday 7th February 11am-12
Tuesday 12th February 11am-12
A maximum of six organisations may attend each webinar and each organisation may have a space on one of the dates. You must book a space on the webinar and send your questions three weeks before hand so the team can prepare your answers. We won’t be able to accept questions during the webinar but if you have any follow up questions, you can get in touch afterwards and we will help where we can. Once we have confirmed your space on a webinar we will send you details for how to join the meeting.
