Family Gateway is an established and award-winning charity working in North Tyneside, South Tyneside and South-East Northumberland with a clear focus on improving life chances for the most vulnerable families and children in disadvantaged communities. Using our evidence-based Barefoot Professional model we engage, support and progress difficult to reach families, encouraging them to develop their own enterprising solutions and to access specialist services that will help them move forward. We have recently diversified and have developed a number of community enterprises within our organisation and have taken over management of our first community building in Howdon, Wallsend.
We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Programme Manager in our Education, Youth and Sport portfolio. The post-holder will report into the Programmes Manager and will oversee and manage a portfolio of projects that include family support services commissioned by schools, youth social action, employability projects and other projects aiming at improving life chances for families and children.
We are seeking an enterprising and self-motivated manager with experience of working in the community with disadvantaged and hard to reach families and a good track record of working with the range of professional services that support vulnerable families and children.
You will be able to demonstrate experience of managing a diverse range of staff and working with peers to achieve common goals. You will have solid and evidenced knowledge of the policies and practices underpinning early intervention and prevention, particularly safeguarding, and a passion for improving life chances for children. You will have good leadership and management capability and experience of supporting staff towards challenging targets in an ever-moving environment through direction and regular supervision and be competent in generating impact and outcomes reports.
You will have a creative mind-set, a strong work ethic, a sense of humour and an appetite to encourage, develop and manage new enterprising projects as well as the ability to reflect on your own development and an appetite to learn. You will also be required to support the Programme Managers in ongoing people and project development and to engage regularly in supervision. Good people skills, leadership and management experience, good communication skills, god organisational skills and a proven creative mindset will be essential.
