Edberts House, a registered charity, bears the name of our first community house, situated in the Borough of Gateshead.  Our story began 10 years ago with a small group of local people in East Gateshead wanting to see change on their estate. From that beginning, we have expanded our activities into four distinct community hubs in Gateshead and now provide, through our Community Linking Project, social prescribing additional resources throughout the four Primary Care Networks of Gateshead.  Currently, we are expanding our non-medical health services by creating a new Health Equity Project, first in East Gateshead, and then rolling it out to the rest of the Borough.

We are now looking to find our next Chair, a passionate, collaborative and future-focused leader to join us and support the vital work we do every day, in an environment of change.  We are looking for an individual who is enthused by the mission of the organisation, aligned to our values, and motivated by the prospect of continuing to innovate to drive meaningful improvements in community wellbeing across the Borough of Gateshead. Candidates should bring considerable leadership experience to the role, ideally gained in both an executive and non-executive capacity. Our Chair will help us to deepen and develop our governance practice, form a strong working partnership with the CEO, and be a confident ambassador for Edberts House, advocating for the mission and work of the organisation. For this reason, the successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, and be able to work with a wide range of stakeholders.

Edberts House is keen to maintain and develop the diversity amongst Board Members, particularly strengthening representation of under-represented characteristics. It is important that our Chair is committed to this, and a champion of equity and inclusivity, and we therefore welcome and encourage applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

For further information about Edberts House, the role and details about how to apply, please refer to the attached Chair Appointment Information Pack.  If you have any questions not answered in the Pack, please contact Jennie Senior or 07376 217042 (during office hours).  Applications should be received by noon, 8th August 2022.
