Voluntary Organisations’ Network North East

Chair - Voluntary Organisations’ Network North East

Strengthening the sector, supporting the region

Our vision is for voluntary and community organisations and social enterprises to make a distinct and sustained contribution to the economic, social and environmental development of North East England.

VONNE is the regional support body for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector, representing more than 1,200 member charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, networks and social enterprises from across the region, with further reach through our many networks.

We work at a strategic level to represent and support the sector both regionally and nationally, by facilitating partnerships and collaboration, and by providing information on funding and capacity building opportunities.

We are seeking a chair (from Autumn 2021) with extensive knowledge of the type of work we undertake and a wider involvement with the voluntary sector and other networks, with experience and a deep understanding of charity governance and working through boards and committees. You will need to have proven leadership, communications and interpersonal skills, as well as integrity and impartiality.

Do you have the board experience and passion to lead us through the next exciting phase of our strategic development?

If so, you’ll be supported by a fantastically talented staff and trustee team, which work collaboratively and inclusively to drive forward the impact of our work.

View a video of introduction from outgoing chair Paul Ennals.

This is an unpaid position, although reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. The time commitment is approximately three days per month, although in the first six months as you are supported into this role, the time commitment may be more.
