Recruiting now: forward-thinking Chair of Board for ambitious CIC
Tell Us North (TUN) is an established Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Our mission is to improve local health and social care services by engaging with communities and influencing those who make decisions on their behalf.
We are looking to strengthen our Board of Directors, who lead in the growth and development of the organisation, and the Chair will lead in this work. Board Directors need to be highly motivated, publicly-aware and determined to improve health and wellbeing throughout communities.
The successful candidate will help to ensure that TUN’s ambitious growth plans are realised, ensure excellent governance arrangements and, working with the Chairs of the Healthwatch Newcastle and Healthwatch Gateshead Committees, will oversee the successful delivery of these two high-profile Healthwatch contracts.
The role will require a time commitment of between two to three days per month (depending upon the activity and the timing of meetings) including attendance at quarterly Board meetings. Some other activities, working with the Chief Executive, may be occasionally required.
All Board of Directors can receive a reimbursement of expenses incurred. TUN recognises the value placed of the Chair role therefore an annual remuneration will be paid to the successful candidate. We also recognise the importance of offering flexibility as much as possible to accommodate other commitments. In addition to serving the local community, Tell Us North Directors do benefit from the following:
- Regarded as holding an influential and respected position among health and social care professionals.
- Invitation to events, including keynote speeches by some of the most respected voices within the community, health and social care sectors.
- Invitation to annual community celebration events.
For more information and a recruitment pack please contact Kate Beattie on 0191 338 5720 or email email@example.com to arrange a discussion with Cynthia Atkin, TUN interim Chief Executive.

The closing date for applications is Monday 19 October 2020. Interviews are expected to take place in the week beginning 2 November 2020.
