Supplementary information - Brief description of the Organisation

Our family support work:

What we do:

We provide bespoke whole family support to families and young people with complex lives who need help to improve the life chances of their children and we help them design enterprising solutions to community problems. We work with families and young people who have barriers to accessing and accepting support from other agencies.

How we do it:

We employ local people who have experienced the same or similar issues as those we support and we help families acknowledge, accept and address their underlying issues. We work alongside other services and agencies to ensure that families access specialist support and we remove barriers to accessing and accepting help.

Where we do it

We work across North Tyneside, South Tyneside, South-east Northumberland and some other local communities in the areas of highest deprivation and where children’s life chances are lowest. In time we will move to new areas too. Our Head Office and first community hub is based in Howdon.

Our Community and Enterprise work:

We lease and manage a community building in Howdon, Wallsend where we offer a range of activities and services for the local population. We have plans to develop a number of social enterprises which will generate trading income to support the charitable aims. The first of the social enterprise is Howdelicious catering which offers a diverse range of quality food offers. A priority of Family Gateway is to develop this business arm to generate trading income, support employability and deliver social impact.

The new CEO will be responsible for leading both arms of the organisation, supported by a strong management team.
