Children’s Psychological Well Being Practitioner (CWP)

Hours: 37.5 hours p/w

Salary: £25655 a year (Agenda for Change band 5 comparable)

Contract type: Permanent

Location: To work in various community settings, including Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CCAMHS) bases

Sunderland Counselling Service is seeking to appoint three Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners who will offer low intensity CBT interventions for clients with mild to moderate mental health concerns and work as part of Sunderland Community CAMHS.

The post holders will be employed by Sunderland Counselling Service (SCS) and work with colleagues across the wider CAMHS Team. These posts will be based in one of our three CCAMHS bases, but the successful applicant will be expected to travel. The post holders will be expected to offer face to face sessions throughout the Service bases in Sunderland according to service requirements.

We are seeking CWP’s who hold a Postgraduate certificate in Child and Young Person Low Intensity Psychological Interventions or equivalent e.g. Experienced and Qualified Graduate Mental Health Worker with relevant CAMHS / CYP  experiences and competences as required. They will provide a low intensity CBT intervention either face to face, over the phone or using a video function and adhere to session limits and models defined by the service.

We require therapists who can complete comprehensive assessments for clients referred to the service to determine their therapeutic and other support needs. The successful CWP’s will have a sound knowledge of the legislative frameworks in relation to mental health and child protection.

The salary for this post is equivalent to a Band 5 agenda for change for successful candidates who have a Postgraduate Certificate in Child and Young person Low Intensity Psychological Interventions. Terms and conditions of this post are provided by SCS. This includes 30 days annual leave per year, pension scheme and access to a free and confidential employee assistance programme and a health programme.
