About FareShare North East

 

FareShare North East is one of 21 regional centres that make up FareShare UK, a network of charitable food redistributors. Last year, FareShare North East saved over 2,021 tonnes of good surplus food from right across the food supply chain and redistributed it to over 326 charities and community groups.

These charities provide meals as part of their services to people in need – including breakfast clubs for disadvantaged children, homeless hostels, luncheon clubs for older people and domestic violence refuges. In 2020/21 we provided enough food for over 4.8 million meals.

Purpose of the Post

 

Working with the Development Manager, help to deliver FareShare North East’s fundraising and communications strategy, engaging with our local communities and key stakeholders, and building a network of organisations, groups and individuals committed to supporting our work through fundraising activities.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

Communications

  • Using a variety of channels, including social media, effectively communicaticate FareShare North East’s message whilst following branding & tone guidelines

  • Produce a regular newsletter, including relevant, fresh content for our stakeholders

  • Support in the creation of communications campaigns at a local level, and help deliver both local and national campaigns

  • Build relationships with the local media including press, radio and digital, to gain coverage for FSNE, working in partnership with FareShare Head Office

  • Manage communications materials/platforms to ensure positive FSNE stories and messages are being delivered

 

Fundraising

  • Research, identify and cultivate relationships with prospective corporate supporters

  • Devise and implement strategies for securing new partnerships with local companies/organisations

  • Support CSR events with a view to cultivating long term fundraising relationships

  • Research sources of new funding and support the Development Manager in submitting applications to trusts/foundations

  • Maintain a database of donors/activity, ensuring records are up-to-date and reporting on progress against targets

 

Community

  • Support & encourage individual fundraising efforts & events, providing appropriate branding guidance and promotional support to suit the scale of the event

  • Develop a network of community and volunteer fundraising groups and individual supporters

  • Identify, research and form new fundraising groups in the community by organising community days and meeting potential volunteers face to face

  • Design and manage cash appeals and fundraising campaigns

  • Provide excellent supporter care to all donors via phone, writing, and in person, building lifetime supporters

  • Plan & host appropriately sized events for the organisation, using them to both build a supporter base and raise funds for the organisation

 

Administration

  • Ensure that accurate and up to date financial and supporter records are maintained and are accessible

  • Provide reports and information about activity, performance, supporters, volunteers etc. as necessary and upon request

  • Work within national FareShare policies, procedures and adhere to legal frameworks

  • Receive, record, bank and process income in accordance with FSNE policies and procedures

  • Undertake administrative duties as required

 

Any other duties as may be required, including supporting the food redistribution operations of FareShare North East - including the ability to drive our delivery vans as needed.
