Job Description and Person Specification

For Communications and Fundraising Officer

Responsible to: Chief Executive

Accountable for: Communications and Fundraising

Job summary: To deliver the Charity’s communications and fundraising strategies in an effective and innovative manner, with best practice quality standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drafting, editing and publishing content, including case studies through the Charity’s digital communication channels, including its website, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn feeds.
  • Contribute to the development of the Charity’s digital media strategy and the growth of its online audience.
  • Managing content planner for the Charity’s communication channels, identifying potential news stories and working across teams to plan and develop content.
  • Developing and delivering integrated communications campaigns, including driving and responding to engagement and producing regular ebulletins.
  • Create, manage, maintain and update the fundraising database.
  • Manage, support and develop imaginative fundraising activities, some of which will be events-based.
  • Increase donations and legacy gifting to agreed target levels.
  • Deliver presentations to interested groups and to attend all events, including cheque presentations, in line with Covid-19 risk assessments.
  • Develop and broaden corporate support.
  • Syndicating and sharing content with partners and stakeholders for their own communication channels
  • Work with colleagues across the Charity to support their use of the Charity’s website and internal communication channels.
  • Creating and compiling the annual report.
  • General admin duties as required.
  • Record all activities by use of diary, google workspace and database with quality and accuracy best practice. Demonstrate good organisational, administration and computer skills.
  • Liaise regularly with the Chief Executive to feedback progress or concerns at monthly 1:1 meetings.
  • Act in accordance with relevant professional body code of conduct.
  • Attend and complete all mandatory training and undergo additional training that may enhance your role which the charity requires.
