Sunderland Counselling Service works in partnership with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to deliver the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service in North Tyneside, known as North Tyneside Talking Therapies (NTTT). 

We are looking to recruit a qualified and experienced counsellor for a permanent 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week) position to join our team and help deliver Step 2 short-term counselling. We welcome suitably skilled and qualified applicants who would like to be considered for job share.

The successful candidate will work as part of an established team of counsellors supporting clients by offering up to six sessions of counselling, completing assessments, and facilitating support groups across a number of community venues and GP practices in North Tyneside. This post will temporarily involve a blended approach of home working and base working whilst restrictions regarding COVID-19 and social distancing remain in place, and therefore the post holder may be required to work confidentially from home.

Experience of working within an IAPT service is ideal, or of working within a time limited framework, counselling adults with mild to moderate mental health issues. The provision of counselling is one of a range of therapeutic interventions within a stepped care pathway which helps to ensure increased service user choice and access to services.

We are looking for a competent counsellor with significant post qualification counselling experience who is able to work independently and is aware of how to make use of the outcome measures required when working within an IAPT service.
