What’s the opportunity?
Re-Connect is part of the Wise Group, a leading social enterprise which empowers vulnerable people to unlock their potential and transform their futures, whilst helping drive sustainable economic growth across Scotland and North East England.
We provide person-centred 121 counselling to offering a warm, safe and confidential space to build trust for our customers to talk about what is important to them. We support people who are emotionally distressed, using substances, isolated and feeling alone and we provide a therapeutic setting for them to come and explore any of their concerns. We aim to facilitate emotional resilience, confidence, build self-esteem and coping skills for them to manage their own mental wellbeing and become the author of their own lives.
Re-Connect has an evidence-based approach, using CORE measuring outcomes – the standard industry emotional wellbeing tool. Our Counsellors are all members of BACP, or equivalent recognised regulating body, to maintain high professional standards while keeping everyone safe.
To support our project, we have an exciting opportunity for a Counsellor to join our team.
As Counsellor, you will work with our partners to build relationships with our referral coaches to help facilitate and offer 121 counselling sessions to Wise Steps customers. Wise Steps is a co-funded project by the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund delivered under the Building Better Opportunities programme to support people facing multiple barriers to work and employability across Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, North Tyneside and South Tyneside.
You will be responsible for looking after referrals, allocating them to an appropriate counsellor, setting up appointments and working in accordance with BACP guidelines and have an external, qualified supervisor. Our successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work alone and keep everyone safe, be part of a team and conscious of the importance of confidentiality.

Location: Home-Based (with some delivery in Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland)
Hours: Part time (20 hours per week)
Status: Fixed Term until 1st December 2022
Salary: £23000 FTE + excellent benefits (pro rata £ 13,142.86)
