Covid Counsellor 

Hours: 37 hours p/w including a minimum of one evening

Salary: £30,399

Contract type: Fixed term until 31st March 2022

Location:  John Street, Sunderland.

Sunderland Counselling Service is seeking to appoint an experienced counsellor who will deliver therapy to clients who have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic in Sunderland.

We are looking for a competent counsellor who, as a minimum, is registered with the BACP or other relevant professional body.  The successful post holder will effectively support clients in addressing and managing issues that are affecting their mental and emotional well-being and will be able to use outcome measures effectively with clients as part of their therapeutic work.

The counsellor will complete comprehensive assessments as well as initial support and guidance to people who contact our service.  This may include signposting, providing self-help materials, a check in service, identifying a suitable package of specific support related to the impact of the pandemic as well as providing more formal counselling. The post holder will be required to work across several of our counselling services, taking on client work in response to need and waiting list pressures.

Counselling will take place face to face, over the telephone or through a video- based platform would also be desirable.  The successful post holder will be expected to work from our base in Sunderland City although due to the ongoing restrictions regarding COVID 19, may also be required to work confidentially from home.

They must be able to work independently, as well as working in partnership with other services in order to support clients fully.

This is a full-time (0.5) position which will include a minimum of one evening per week until 31st March 2022.
