Sunderland Counselling Service is seeking to appoint an experienced Deputy Clinical Lead who will deputise and support our Clinical Lead to deliver counselling services to clients across the organisation.

We are looking for a competent lead who is a qualified counsellor that is accredited with the BACP or other relevant professional body.  The successful post holder will ensure the delivery of safe, effective services across the organisation. The Deputy Clinical Lead will provide effective supervision and case management to counselling staff, therefore, experience of leading and motivating individuals and teams of people is a must. The successful post holder will also be responsible for responding to clinical queries and issues; managing referrals and waiting lists; liaising with partner agencies; and helping to support the Clinical Lead with the day to day running of clinical counselling services.

Some of our counselling services are offered as part of the primary care mental health provision through the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Service, therefore, knowledge of IAPT or experience of working within an IAPT service would be desirable, including an ability to achieve agreed targets and demonstrate outcomes.

The Deputy Clinical Lead will support counsellors to provide effective counselling to clients addressing and managing issues that are affecting their mental and emotional well-being, as well as completing comprehensive assessments.

The successful post holder will be expected to work from our base in Sunderland City although due to the ongoing restrictions regarding COVID 19, may also be required to work confidentially from home. They must be able to work independently, as well as working in partnership with other services in order to support clients fully.

If you would like further information about this role, please contact Marianne Guthzeit, Clinical Lead or Leanne Davis, Clinical Lead on 0191 514 7007.

Applications, alongside a completed Equal Opportunity and Diversity Monitoring form, should be emailed to office@sunderlandcounselling.org.uk by 11.59pm on Monday, 25th October 2021.  Applications received after this time will not be considered.

Interviews will take place using Microsoft Teams during the week on Friday, 29th October and Monday, 1st November 2021.
