Hartlepool Foodbank CIO

Owned by Hartlepool’s churches and a franchisee of the Trussell trust, Hartlepool Foodbank CIO is one of the busiest foodbanks in the North East. In 2020 we issued over 2000 emergency food parcels to individuals and families in need. Collecting food from partner organizations including schools and churches, managing our warehouse in Hartlepool’s Middleton Grange shopping centre and coordinating supplies to our distribution centre in Church Street is an important part of our operation.

We need a job-share manager for these operations, who is also able to deputise for our coordinator when they are absent.

12 month contract (start date Spring 2021)

Job sharing role:

22 hours/week with flexible hours (although employees are normally expected to work on days when the Foodbank is open – currently Tuesdays and Fridays) and 5 weeks annual leave (The job-share partner’s hours are a minimum of 10 hours/week.)

The salary is £10.62/hour (£12,153/year) + 7.5% contribution to pension fund.

The successful candidate will be able to lead volunteers as well as being part of the team. They will be conscientious and reliable, able both to follow procedures and to act on their own initiative as needed. Computer literate, they will be a good verbal communicator, proficient at using social media to promote the Foodbank and competent to produce written reports as required.

They will also be able to develop community links, instigating and promoting fundraising activities. If not a committed Christian, they must be able to contribute to the Christian ethos of the Foodbank and must have a passion for making a positive impact in an underserved community.

They will have a full, current driving license and be able-bodied, fit enough both to lead and to participate in manual handling operations.

Knowledge of logistics, risk management, stock control and/or Health & Safety legislation (especially Manual Handling) would be an advantage.
