Development Worker (Ref: SU85)

30 hours per week

£23,822 per annum, pro rata

Based: Sunderland

Would you like to help influence the improvement of local mental health services? Are you passionate about empowering people? Are you committed to giving local service users a voice?

An exciting opportunity is available in MHM’s Sunderland Mental Health User Voice service where we are looking to recruit a Development Worker who can demonstrate proven experience of service user involvement and development work. SMHUV aims to empower Sunderland’s mental health service users; giving people a voice that can help improve and shape local mental health services.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who is empathetic and able to engage with mental health service users to ensure their views are heard. The successful candidate will also have good networking skills and will have the capability to attend strategic meetings with commissioners and service providers and the ability to represent the views of service users at these meetings.

To fulfil this role you will have experience of engaging people who have a range of mental health needs. You will have a good knowledge of mental health service provision across the voluntary and statutory sectors. . You will have a range of communication skills that enable you to listen to and understand the views, needs and wishes of service users, and the skills and ability to ensure this information is heard and considered by commissioners and stakeholders.
