Events Organiser /Community Support Worker for Adults with Learning Disabilities
Salary NJC 14 (£23,080) pro rata @25.5 hours -£15,906 per annum.
This post has been supported for one year through the County Durham Community Foundation with funding from the NHS Community Connector. We would anticipate continued funding after the 12 months although at this stage there are no guarantees.
The purpose of this project is to develop our offer in relation to adults with learning disabilities over the age of 30.The postholder will work with key members of the Bullion Hall staff team to promote the project to partners, work with service users who have learning disabilities to understand their needs and working together develop a range of new activities in Bullion Hall.
In addition the postholder will serve as a friend /buddy to service users enabling them to engage with existing activities in the centre such as art, exercise or crafts, helping them to feel confident about continued participation and challenging discrimination where this might be encountered.
Applicants should have previous experience of working with adults with learning disabilities ,excellent communication and organisational skills and able to work flexible hours including some evenings and occasional weekends.
