If you have experience of supporting people with housing issues, possibly gained in a charity, community or hostel based role and are looking for a part-time opportunity that comes with full support and great rewards, join Shelter as a Floating Support Worker.

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change ¿ with individuals, in communities, across society ¿ and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve

About the role
Our brand new city centre based Floating Support Service is focused on helping clients, singles or couples mainly living in the private rented sector, to sustain their accommodation and thrive in their community. But, we need the help of people like you. Join us, and you could soon be providing vital support on a whole range of issues to clients in the east of the city. Disrepair, rehousing, welfare benefits and landlord related- you'll advise on all of these as you do your very best to help a variety of clients sustain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.

About you
As well as having experience of supporting people with housing issues, you're customer-focused, proactive, creative and innovative and work well as part of a team. What's more, you have excellent listening skills and the personality it takes to engage positively with people who may have complex lives and challenging circumstances.

Benefits
In return, we'll provide all the support and training you need to develop, plus a range of benefits. These include 30 days of annual leave (pro rata for part-time staff), enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme, while flexible working is also a possibility.
