Job Purpose: To deliver a range of sessions and activities to the deaf, hard of hearing and hearing members of deaf awareness: NE.
Duties: You will be expected to lead a varied number of sessions and activities for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people both online and face-to-face. Typically sessions and activities to be delivered are support groups such as tinnitus support, activity groups such as signed singing and health/physical activity groups such as badminton.
Skills Criteria: You should have an enthusiasm for promoting the inclusion of all in positive interactions, active participation and creating a valued shared experience. Along with motivation and positive energy, you will be required to be patient and resilient in negotiating the needs of individual people within group activity.
Experience Criteria: You should have experience in leading groups and delivering activity to a wide range of people. You should have some experience and knowledge of deaf people. A practical use of sign language would be advantageous. You should have a firm understanding of safeguarding regulations.
Team Overview: You will be part of a small team who are passionate about the positive interactions between deaf and hearing people and equal inclusion for all. You will be expected to work well within the team and also work well independently.
Success Measures: You will be expected to contribute positively towards attaining all success measures as set out in the organisation’s strategic and business plan.
