Difference North East is a user-led charity, which means we are run by disabled people for disabled people.
Our aim is to make the North East a better, more equal society for disabled people to live, work and study. We want to achieve change at the highest levels, advocating and campaigning for equal rights, and fighting ableism and discrimination.
You can find out more about our work, including our ambitious strategic plan, on our website.
Our approach is founded in the social model of disability and we want disabled people to be at the forefront of our work, from our Board to our staff, volunteers and members.
So, we are looking to add to our current Trustees. We would love to hear from you if:
- You have a passion for disability rights, diversity and inclusion.
- You can bring experience, knowledge and skills to help guide our growth and development.
- You identify as D/deaf or disabled,
- You can meet on a quarterly basis and engage in ad-hoc discussions in-between.
We welcome applications from all disabled people, and particularly from people with underrepresented conditions like learning disabilities, mental health conditions, Autism and other types of neurodiversity. We also particularly welcome applications from disabled people from BAME and LGBTQ communities.
This is a great opportunity to be involved in leading a charity that can bring about real change for many thousands of disabled people. You will be joining a team of highly experienced disability activists. We will provide training and support to make sure you can flourish in the role.
To apply, please send us a CV, with an email explaining your interest, experience and background, and what you feel you can offer our charity: email@example.com
Or, if you would like to talk about it and find out more, let us know and we can arrange a call with our Chair of Trustees, Caroline MacDonald.
Please also let us know if you need any assistance to access this information or the application process.
