Darlington Mind

Trustees sought for successful and well established mental health charity

Darlington Mind is a well-established charity which exists to support vulnerable adults and children to cope with mental ill health and develop emotional resilience.

We are passionate about mental health and are looking for new Trustees to join our existing Board members who have a wide range of skills and experience in governing charitable organisations and businesses.

If you are seeking to develop your experience and skills and give something back to the community in Darlington, parts of County Durham and North Yorkshire we would love to hear from you.

Your time commitment would be an average of about 1 hour per week.

As part of this recruitment we are also looking for new Trustees to:

1) assist Trustees to provide an overview of the finances of the organisation. We have experienced and qualified staff and support from our external accountant but it would be useful to have someone with experience of managing finance and budgets who could interpret financial matters strategically.

Trustee roles are voluntary and financial responsibility remains the joint responsibility of the whole board. However, Darlington Mind finds it useful to have a board member with a particular focus on finance who can provide challenge and support to the Executive team and the rest of the board.

2) Provide strategic input into the marketing and promotion of the charity. We also have marketing experience amongst staff and trustees but would welcome additional expertise.

As a Trustee/Director of the Charity/Company, the Trustee role is summarised at:  The Essential Trustee: what you need to know, what you need to do (CC6) and is also included in the application pack for prospective trustees).

Applying for the Trustee role

Darlington Mind has a standard application and recruitment process for prospective Trustees which will apply to all individuals interested in applying
