Headliners (UK) is a charity that aims to inspire children and young people aged 8-25 to investigate and challenge the world around them, enhance their personal development and promote their right to be heard as equals. We aim to raise the voice of young people, particularly those who are particularly disadvantaged or isolated and least likely to have a voice. We do this by offering a programme of personal development, participation and multi-media learning through journalism and promote active participation by enabling young people’s voices to be represented in the mainstream and online media and to policy and decision makers.
Tynesiders is a Heritage Lottery Fund funded project that works with young people aged 11-25 from new, emerging and established communities to unearth stories of (im)migration, integration and piece together a wider shared picture of Tyneside heritage as one of migration. You will manage the project to challenge prejudice, promote diversity and support the young people to become civic journalists working together to uncover histories of migration and integration through documentary photography. The young people’s investigations will help build new connections and a shared understanding of heritage between different communities, different generations and between the communities and heritage venues in the area through the digital content produced and exhibition and CELEBRATE events.
