Family Gateway is an award-winning North East charity that is committed to using local people to deliver enterprising community-led solutions to families, children, young people and communities.
We want to appoint a talented person who will help us develop an ambitious plan to support young people into employability and enterprise.
The Youth Enterprise and Employability Manager post is part of an initiative funded by Sage Foundation to support their project to reduce youth homelessness and move young people into training and employment. The post is managed by and answers to the Director of Operations and will work alongside the Programme Lead responsible for Family Gateway’s Vulnerable Families portfolio.
The post is initially advertised for one year, however depending on the success of the project we hope to make this a permanent addition to our portfolio of work for young people and families.
The aim of the partnership with Sage Foundation on the A Place Called Home programme is to offer new and enterprising solutions to young people who are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) or homeless. This role will specifically work on an ambitious project to establish a new and innovative Employability and Enterprise Academy in Family Gateway to offer opportunities to vulnerable young people to experience a range of enterprise initiatives and to develop social enterprises that may in time trade sufficiently to sustain the project in the longer term.
This is an ambitious and exciting development and we are therefore seeking someone with experience in working within the charity / community sector, working with young people and moving them towards training and employment. We are also looking for someone with a creative mindset who has experience of developing or working with social action projects and / or social enterprises.
We’d love to hear from you if you are an engaging and proactive person with experience of:
- Working with young people who have had difficulties in their lives
- Supporting young people into training and employment
- Developing social enterprises and / or enterprising projects
- Working with other agencies and organisations for the benefit of young people’s future chances
We are keen to find the right person for this role and would therefore be happy to discuss flexible working arrangements, if needed.
