Nepacs is a charity which supports a positive future for prisoners and their families in the north east.
The well-established Youth Project provides support and delivers outreach activities across the region for children and young people impacted by the imprisonment of a parent or loved one.
The role of 1:1 Support Worker is a new post and we are seeking to recruit someone with a passion for making a positive difference to the lives of young people.
The successful candidate should possess the ability to establish genuine and supportive relationships with children, develop effective communication with schools, social services, and CAMHS, and support training to help raise awareness of how the criminal justice system works and the realities of the parent or loved one’s situation to dispel fears about visiting a prison.
All applicants will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience of working with young people aged 8-17 in a one-to-one capacity, strong organisational and report writing skills with an ability to evidence outcomes clearly to funders, an understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures and hold a full driving licence.
This contract is initially on a fixed term basis for 1 year and is subject to Prison Service vetting, DBS check and pre employment checks.
