#DoYourBit to protect our communities: health leaders urge continued use of face coverings

Our region's health leaders have urged us all to continue to use face coverings and keeping our distance despite the change in government restrictions, to help reduce Covid numbers amid the current North East surge.

The appeal was made in a joint statement by directors of public health representing the seven local authorities of Newcastle, Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Sunderland and Durham, and a toolkit of digital images for social media has also been created to help spread the message. The graphics, which can be downloaded at doyourbit-nenc.co.uk/july-19th-toolkit, are for leads in health, social care, local authority and voluntary organisations to use and adapt to encourage people to keep space between one another in healthcare settings, to was hands thoroughly and frequently, and to wear face coverings. The toolkit will be continually updated over the coming months.
