Who:

This online Movement Builders programme aims to bring together activists, organisers and campaigners from NEONS key battlegrounds of Health, Housing, Climate and Migrant Rights, who see social movements as an integral part of how the society can be reimagined and recover stronger from Covid-19. We particularly welcome applications from People of Colour, Disabled people and Trans people, who are currently underrepresented in leadership positions in the movement.

We’ll be prioritising those who have experienced injustice first hand, and are keen to organise with others in their community who are marginalised by structural inequality.  Movement Builders cohorts are made up of people who understand the importance of both self and collective care to the work we do, and believe that building and sustaining a culture based on anti-oppression, deep understanding and solidarity is central to the change we want to see. We would also hope that participants would be open to being a part of an ongoing community of practice with NEON after the training, supporting and exploring collaborations with other Movement Builders alumni.

If you feel you already know some of the tools you might need to move your movement, and are keen to engage with others who have tried and tested them, this is for you. If in your current organising, you find yourself needing other people around you that are in the same fight, this training is for you. And if you want to learn from inspiring social movements around the world, Movement Builders is for you.

Requirements:

All participants will need a computer with video camera and audio functions and a strong internet connection for optimal learning. For those who need it, we can support you by providing laptops and dongles - there’s a section on the form for you to let us know about this.

There will be a tech drop in session before the start of the programme to help you feel confident using the software and to troubleshoot any problems.

We can also contribute to cover costs of childcare, translators or anything else you might need to be able to attend. Again, you can let us know using the form.

Access:

NEON is committed to ensuring that everyone is able to access and participate fully in the Movement Builders training programme.  Please get in touch with us to discuss your access requirements and how we are able to support you.
