The Charityworks Kickstart programme provides fantastic paid employment opportunities for young people looking to take their first steps into a career in the social change sector.
As part of the government’s Kickstart scheme, the roles are available to anybody aged 16-24 and in receipt of Universal Credit and young people can apply by visiting their local job centre and speaking to their Work Coach.
Charityworks is the UK-non-profit sector’s Kickstart gateway, and is collaborating with over 250 organisations as part of a collective effort to power up the sector with exceptional talent and make a real impact on youth unemployment.
As part of their paid job successful applicants will also take part in a supported six month development offer delivered by Charityworks. The programme will equip the young person with the connections, experiences, tools, and insight needed to succeed in their day job. It will also help them to build a peer community and the skills to transition well beyond the placement, developing long term careers in the non-profit sector.
There are currently almost 300 roles across the country live for recruitment, all of which can be found in the Kickstart database here. Roles are varied, suitable to all age ranges, including those with some work experience and those without, school leavers, graduates and non-graduates, at a variety of levels. Candidates can download any job description they're interested in and eligible for (roles are advertised at Job Centres within a 90-minute radius of the stated location), and take it to their Work Coach at the Job Centre for a referral.
