Not-Equal are recruiting members for it's Community Panel, which will help select which research projects get supported for funding. It's looking for a diverse panel of both voluntary/community group leaders and staff as well as service users.
Not-Equal Call for Collaborative research proposals is currently underway. It has invited UK academic institutions to partner with non-academic entities (e.g. industry or third sector organisations) to propose research projects that respond to issues of social justice in the Digital Economy. A key aspect of Not-Equal is ‘Social Impact’ – that’s why it is asking members of civil society to help review and select which projects should be awarded the Not-Equal funding.
The Community Panel will be made up of a group of volunteers from a range of backgrounds, with a variety of experiences. As a panel member you'll play a key role in commissioning research projects, make new contacts and learn about research on social justice in the digital age.
Not Equal’s reviewing process unfolds in three steps:
1. A panel of expert academic reviewers, who will first review proposal from their disciplinary perspective;
2. A Community Panel who will review proposals according to social impact and,
3. The Not-Equal co-investigators’ team, who will weigh the different reviews and award the funds on behalf of the Not-Equal community.
For more information on the application process please visit Not-Equal's website: https://not-equal.tech/call-for-collaborations/
The Community Panel will meet for virtual discussions three times between 6th-20th July. You'll also be asked to carry out individual offline activities in preparation for these discussions which will help you to write a review of a research proposal at the end of the process.
Panel members will be compensated for their time with Amazon vouchers worth £100.
To take part, you'll need to have access to the internet and to a computer or tablet/smartphone with a speaker and microphone. If you do not have access to these things but would like to take part please tick the box at the end of the application form.
If you would like to join the Community Panel, please fill out this short form or share it with anyone else who might be interested.
