Peer Talk support groups restarting

Peer Talk North Tyneside has announced plans to restart face to face peer support sessions on Wednesday, September 16th in Whitley Bay, while the Gateshead group is meeting from September 21st.

The peer support groups are for people facing depression, anxiety or similar distress. The North Tyneside group will take place every Wednesday 7-8.30pm at Whitley Bay Big Local, 158 Whitley Road NE26 2LY, while in Gateshead, the group will meet on Mondays from 7pm at Bensham Grove Community Centre, Sidney Grove, NE8 2XD.

Peer Talk is taking every possible precaution to make the meeting spaces safe for all who attend, following the guidelines around hand sanitising, distancing, the wearing of face coverings and Test and Trace practice. You can see a visual summary of these changes at peertalk.org.uk/uploads/PeerTalk_Peer_Support_Groups_6.pdf.

There’s more information on how the support groups run at peertalk.org.uk/support-groups.

If you go along to either group, you'll be offered this information leaflet which outlines the extra precautions. There is a risk assessment policy and practices in place.

If you have any queries about the sessions, please contact 07719 562 617.

Peer Talk is aware of the increased stress and anxiety that Covid-19 has brought and looks forward to welcoming back support group attendees and newcomers alike, in a safe and friendly setting.
