Volunteering and Skills Sharing
This page contains useful signposting links for people wanting to volunteer. Whilst it's not a specific area of our work, we include it here due to the high number of requests we get around volunteering signposting.
I want to Volunteer
Volunteering can make a real difference to your own life and the lives of those around you. We want to make sure that anyone thinking about giving their time can find a volunteering opportunity which is right for them, whether it's gardening, mentoring a young person, or being a trustee of a local charity.
Contact your local Volunteer Centre
Volunteer Centres are local organisations that provide support to volunteers and the organisations that involve them. If you want to find an opportunity in your local area, this can be an ideal place to start. Use the link below to locate your nearest centre, there are seven across the North East.
Search online for a volunteering opporunity
Do-it is the national database of volunteering opportunities. Search more than 1 million volunteering opportunities by interest, activity or location and apply online.
North East Skills Sharing
Businesses and charities working together for a better North East
The operating environment for VCSE sector organisations is changing faster than ever before. Political and economic changes have led to increased demand on the sector combined with diminishing resources.
North East Skills Sharing, facilitated by the Community Foundation, aims to encourage and promote skills sharing between local businesses and not for profit organisations in the North East.
If you are a VSCE organisation looking for help, or a business who would like to support a VCSE organisation, visit the North East Skills Sharing website to find out where to start and who can help.
