We are Newcastle Carers. We support adults, children and young people who care for someone living in Newcastle. Our services are free, confidential, and non-judgemental, helping carers find ways to make their caring situation more manageable. We believe every carer should be able to access professional support, information and guidance. We also believe that children and young people with caring responsibilities, some of whom are of primary school age, deserve the same opportunities as their peers. For more information about our charity and our vital work, please visit the Newcastle Carers website.
Our vision is to improve the quality of life for carers of all ages and help them overcome the challenges they face.
Working at Newcastle Carers is more than just a job. We are a team of passionate people dedicated to supporting carers of all ages. Our values incorporate every aspect of our work: Empowering, Inclusive, People-Focused, and Empathetic. We know that by working together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of unpaid carers in Newcastle.
Do you share our passion and want to join us to make a real difference in the lives of unpaid carers in Newcastle?
A bit about the role
The primary role of a Young Carers Worker is to work with young carers using an outcome-focused approach to help them have the same opportunities as other children and young people. You will support the whole family to promote positive relationships and gain insight into family roles and responsibilities to empower change in the caring role (when appropriate). You will also support young carers in a group setting to allow young carers to take time away from caring and socialise with other children.
You will proactively collaborate with relevant organisations in Newcastle to identify, inform and support young carers.
About you
Are you an excellent communicator skilful at connecting with people, particularly young people and their families? We are looking for someone who excels in building trust and rapport with ease. If you thrive in dynamic situations and can remain composed during challenging conversations, we want you on our team! We are particularly looking for someone who can inspire and empower others to reach their full potential.
So, if you’re ready for a job that promises rewarding experiences, then get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
We offer our employees a range of benefits and support
You will work as part of a supportive and committed team, striving to make a difference in the lives of carers. We are committed to addressing the health issues of our staff and have been awarded the ‘Better Health at Work Award Continuing Excellence’ Award. We are also committed to promoting the wellbeing of our staff through the Mindful Employer Charter.
In addition, we can offer you:
- An inclusive and values-based environment
- Flexible working from day one – a truly flexible working culture
- TOIL (Time Off In Lieu)
- Workplace pension scheme
- A generous holiday entitlement
- Training and development opportunities
- The opportunity to work as part of a team of passionate people with a great sense of humour!
- Free tea and coffee, with occasional cakes and chocolates (and healthy snacks, of course!)
