Job description 

We are looking to recruit a bookkeeper for small non-profit accountancy practice based in Gateshead but working across the whole of the UK. 

If you are AAT qualified or qualified by experience and you want to feel valued, an integral part of a team, and enjoy working with all aspects of bookkeeping and payroll then we would like to hear from you. 

 Job Profile / Responsibilities 

  • Processing invoices, income and receipts and entering data into accounting software 
  • Preparation of VAT returns 
  • Preparation of payroll, HMRC and pension submissions 
  • Balance sheet reconciliation 
  • A can-do attitude to work with the ability to be flexible in your approach 
  • The ability to communicate effectively and build good working relationships 
  • Dealing with client queries via Zoom, Teams, telephone and email 
  • Proficient in using Xero, QuickBooks, Free Agent and Microsoft Office suite 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry 

Desirable 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within practice; preferably within charity and community interest companies/companies limited by guarantee although not essential 
  • Understanding project accounting and restricted and unrestricted funding  
  • Experience of preparing working papers
