Role description: Board Member
Healthwatch North Tyneside are recruiting trustees to join our board.
We are looking for people with a passion for making a difference to local health and social care in North Tyneside.
Healthwatch is a small local charity with a commitment to improving local health and social care services. We are the independent voice for users of health and care services in North Tyneside, providing information to local people so they can get the support they need. Our main activity is listening to people’s views and experiences, hearing feedback about services, and working with service providers and commissioners to better respond to people’s needs.
We want to hear from anyone with the skills and experience to help us deliver our mission: To champion the experiences, views, values and needs of local people to positively affect North Tyneside's health and social care services.
Our trustees oversee our work and help represent the voice of local people at key meetings with decision-makers. They are from various backgrounds, some from roles within health and social care services, others as service users, all bringing an understanding of our local community.
Trustees are expected to commit to between 5 and 8 voluntary hours per month to:
Attend board meetings and participate in other relevant groups, meetings and training.
Attend external meetings and events representing Healthwatch as required.
Prepare for meetings and respond to communications in between.
We are actively encouraging applications from people in under-represented groups, to help shape a culture that supports and engages everyone.
