Are you interested in using your skills and experiences to help families at one of the most challenging times of their lives?
The Tiny Lives Trust is seeking new Trustees to play an active role in helping us to support premature and sick newborn babies and their families at one of the most critical times.
Having a premature or sick baby can be one of the most difficult challenges a family can face. This journey is different for everyone. For some it may start before or during pregnancy, and for others it may continue long after discharge. We want all premature and sick newborn babies and their families living in the North East and North Cumbria to have the best possible chance to thrive.
This is an exciting time to join Tiny Lives as we have recently launched an ambitious charity strategy for 2024 – 2029. We aim to deepen our work and connection with the Newcastle Neonatal Service at the RVI in Newcastle upon Tyne, by continuing to offer practical and emotional support for families while they are on the ward, and following discharge home, as well as aiming to reach more families in the North East and North Cumbria and engage families currently under represented within our services. More details on our strategy can be found here.
You will join a skilled Board of six lay and six clinical trustees who meet quarterly in Newcastle upon Tyne. We ask our Trustees to be ambassadors for our work and occasionally attend events as a representative of the charity.
We are looking to appoint 2 Lay Trustees and 2 Clinical Trustees to strengthen the existing Board.
- Lay Trustee
- Our current Board has a wide skill set and we are interested to understand your background and what you can bring our Board. Whatever your professional background, you will be willing to engage fully in Board meetings and support the delivery of our strategic plan for 2024 - 2029.

We are committed to increasing diversity across the organisation, so it’s important to us that our Board of Trustees includes people with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our trustee roles are open to all, however we particularly welcome and encourage applications from those who have lived experience of neonatal care.
Our values and the way we behave in order to demonstrate them in our day-to-day interactions make us who we are as an organisation. We expect all our colleagues to demonstrate strong alignment with our charity values and vision that ‘all premature and sick newborn babies and their families living in the North East and North Cumbria have the best possible chance to thrive’. Our work at Tiny Lives is underpinned by the following core values:
‘Families at the heart of everything we do’
- We care, support and empower
- We listen, engage and respond
- We are progressive, inclusive and future-focused
If you are passionate about the difference we make to babies and their families, we would very much like to hear from you. Please send your CV and a covering letter outlining why you are particularly interested in a Trustee role with Tiny Lives, including your experience and suitability for the role of Trustee, and email it to kelly@tinylives.org.uk by 28th February 2025.
If you would like to speak to the Chief Executive or Chair of Trustees for an informal conversation about the role before applying, please contact Kelly Blakeney at kelly@tinylives.org.uk.
