About Us
Shine On (formerly Caring Hands) is a well-established charity of over 30 years, based in the East of Newcastle, working to improve the lives of older people by helping them remain independent and stay connected.  Our services include benefits advice, Befriending scheme, handman service, wellbeing projects, and social activities.  As a charity, we rely on fundraising, the generosity of our community, and the effectiveness of our income generation activities to operate. Central to our income generating is our busy community launderette, which offers services to local people and businesses. The launderette is about to undergo a complete refurbishment and intend to extend its opening hours (currently it is open part-time) and add a small line of merchandise.


The Role
We are looking for a dynamic, experienced, and dedicated individual to join our team in the newly created role of Launderette and Retail Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in generating the essential income required to sustain and grow a valued local charity that makes a significant difference to the lives of our service users and their families.


Job Purpose
To contribute to income generation of Shine On in order to achieve maximum profit and sales targets through a successful launderette and retail outlet. To lead a team of staff and shop volunteers based at our community launderette in Shieldfield. To act as a role model for other staff and volunteers, living our values.

Hours
37.5 hours per week (5 days Mon-Sun).  Flexible days off.  Regular early evening and weekend working.

About You
If you are energetic and enthusiastic, with experience of managing staff and volunteers, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to have run a launderette before, but you must be keen to learn the business. You will have business acumen, and a good understanding of Health and Safety.
