What are we looking for?

Trustees are our most senior leaders. They set our strategic direction, make sure we’re using our resources effectively and ensure we’re having the greatest possible impact on our community. We’re looking for dedicated, empathetic and ambitious candidates, who share our vision and values. 

 

Who are we?

Tyneside and Northumberland Mind is an independent local charity, affiliated to National Mind. We help people who are struggling with their mental health, we provide local mental health services and we fundraise to support those services. We have an excellent reputation in our area and deliver varied and impactful services that are truly transformational for those who access them and the wider community. 

 

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Guide and advise the Board in the approval of budgets, accounts, and financial statements, within a relevant policy framework. 
  • Keep the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities. 
  • Chair our Finance and Risk Subcommittee.
  • Monitor investment activity and ensure its consistency with policies, aims, objectives and legal responsibilities.
  • Contribute to determining the overall direction and development of the charity through good governance and clear strategic planning. 
  • Promote and develop the charity to help it to grow and be successful.
  • Ensure that the charity and its representatives’ function within the legal and regulatory framework of the sector and in line with the governing document.
  • Read papers, comment, attend Board meetings and other ad-hoc meetings.
  • Act in the best interest of the charity and its beneficiaries at all times.
