Trustee – Stockton & District Advice & Information Service (SDAIS)

Location: Stockton-on-Tees (Face-to-face trustee meetings/online sub-committees)

Type: Voluntary (reasonable expenses reimbursed)

About the Role:

SDAIS – your local Citizens Advice in Stockton – is seeking new trustees to help shape the future of a vital community service.

As a trustee, you will play a key role in supporting our strategy, governance, and sustainability, ensuring we continue to provide free and confidential advice to thousands of residents.

Trustee Role Profile:

  • Provide a strategic overview for Stockton Citizens Advice
  • Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation
  • Oversee Stockton Citizens Advice’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress
  • Be accountable for the good practice and overall performance of the charity
  • Be accountable for the charity’s compliance with Companies House, the Charity Commission, Financial Conduct Authority, and funders
  • Ensure that key risks are identified, monitored, and controlled effectively
  • Provide support and challenge to the CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority
  • Avoid and declare Conflicts of Interests
  • Contribute to regular reviews of Stockton Citizens Advice’s own governance
  • To study all Board papers prior to the meeting, and be prepared to debate and approve agenda items during the meeting
  • Contribute to the broader promotion of Stockton Citizens Advice’s objects, vision and reputation by applying relevant skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.
  • Support the pursuit and management of appropriate partnerships to achieve results in line with the Strategy and Annual Plan
  • Keep abreast of changes in Stockton Citizens Advice’s operating environment

Time commitment:

Quarterly Trustee meetings are held face to face in January, April, July & October and last for approximately 2 hours.

Trustees may be asked to contribute quarterly (online) for sub-groups of the Board and/or Task and Finish groups if they have a particular skill or interest in a subject or topic which is being discussed.
