Food Justice Network & Projects Lead at Feeding Families

Contract Type: Contract / Temporary
Role Type: Employment
Hours: Part time
Application deadline:
Based: Gateshead
Salary: £34,000 Pro Rata
Salary Type: Fixed Salary
Location: Tyne and Wear
Role description: Senior Project Support
About the role
If you are passionate about social justice and making a real difference to the systems that seek to release people from food insecurity. This maybe the role for you as you lead out the implementation of the Gateshead Food Justice Network and help turn it into something that actually shifts how people experience food support locally.
You will bring people together, keep things moving, and make sure it leads to action, not just conversation.
Alongside the network, you will pick up a small number of Feeding Families projects and see them through to completion.
You will need to be comfortable working in an asset-based community development way. Which is not always neat, but it matters.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead and coordinate the Gateshead Food Justice Network
- Build strong relationships across charities, community groups, and public sector partners
- Bring people together in a way that feels open, honest, and inclusive
- Turn conversations into action and keep momentum going
- Support the development of local food solutions that focus on dignity, not dependency
- Deliver and manage a small number of projects alongside the network
- Keep a clear handle on progress, risks, and what needs to shift
What we are looking for
- Someone who can build trust quickly with a wide range of people
- Organised, but not rigid
- Able to hold multiple moving parts and still see the bigger picture
- Confident leading conversations, even when they’re challenging
- Experience in community, charity, or partnership work
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership
Why it matters
We are moving away from crisis response, towards something more sustainable that builds resilience.
Food can be the gateway to release from food insecurity. At Feeding Families we are more than just food.
About Feeding Families
We get the right food to the right people at the right time, but we do not stop there.
We are building something bigger. Stronger systems, better partnerships, and routes out of crisis that actually last.
Our values are simple. Dignity. Integrity. Action Together.
If those are yours, you will fit in here.
