About us

Groundwork works across the UK helping communities find practical solutions to the challenges they face. Groundwork aims to be the UK’s leading regeneration charity, working through partnership to create communities in which people are proud to live and work. Groundwork’s mission is to support people to improve their prospects and reach their full potential.

About the role

We’re looking for an organised, proactive and people-focused Project Support Officer to join our friendly team at Groundwork. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting two of our vital services – Healthier & Wealthier (H&W) and General Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) – helping residents across County Durham to access the support they need to improve their wellbeing and financial resilience.

As the first point of contact for enquiries, you’ll manage incoming referrals, coordinate appointments, and help clients access the most suitable support. Using a friendly and professional approach, you’ll empower people to make informed choices and connect them with the right advice or partner organisation.

You’ll also provide essential administrative and operational support to our advisers and help keep our projects running smoothly day to day.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organised and proactive – able to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • A great communicator – confident handling enquiries from clients, partners, and colleagues.
  • Empathetic and professional – able to support clients with sensitivity and discretion.
  • Detail-oriented – confident maintaining accurate records and managing information securely.
  • Tech-savvy – comfortable using Microsoft Office and digital tools to manage workflows and data.
  • Team-oriented – enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to shared goals.

Experience in an advice, community, or support service environment is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided.

At Groundwork, we believe in creating change that lasts — for people, places, and the planet. As part of our team, you’ll be supported to develop your skills, grow professionally, and make a real difference in your community.

For more information on the role, or for an informal discussion please contact Vicky Wood, Project Manager on 07885 460715 or vicky.wood@groundwork.org.uk
